Mackenzie Gregson

As we observe our surroundings it becomes apparent that our world is consumed with pattern. Pattern is able to document our personalities, culture, and progression through life. My work explores these ideas through various mediums such as textiles, print, and painting. Pattern can be utilized as a bridge between the portrait and the interior as an investigation into our modern-day society. I apply printmaking techniques into painting through stenciling and linocut, however, I plan on continuing to blend more methods within print and painting. My works are largely inspired by textiles; which are sometimes used to replace the canvas for painting. This process of replacement confronts the traditional idea of the surface and turns it on its head.
